Andrea Btoy

Art Urbà

"Burning is internalizing, it is an immediate impulse: it's like graffiti, very close to an anonymous feeling: it is dreamed, it is constant that it only awakens when the engraving goes out of the tomb, and that's when you have frustration or joy."

Josep Guinovart

Urban art is a new artistic trend, born in the seventies, which is made and enjoyed on the street. It is a practice usually not regulated, that is why its controversy. There are several types, such as graffiti, templates or stickers, among others.

At Espai Guinovart we enter this urban art under cover under the guidance of Andrea Btoy, one of the most outstanding artists. With Uruguayan roots, but raised in Barcelona, he goes into the world of art through photography. And it is through photography that begins to experiment with templates that allow you to work on historical or other images that show the poverty and the figure of women, many of which are scattered throughout the streets around the world.

During two days, Btoy will make the mural in the Mercado Square, to be able to open it on Saturday, October 12, in the framework of the Nougat and Chocolate Fair. The piece will enter the Space, along with other works on different media and with a recording of the performance, in order to make the process visible once celebrated. This act will allow us to see live the way of working in urban art, in this case with aerosols, known sprays.

Andrea Michaelsson, with the artistic name of Andrea Btoy, is the artist who will approach us to this emerging art, which extends to many cities and creates controversy and reflection. The appropriation of the street, increasingly privatized, provides the context for expressing what is politically incorrect and provoking.
