Carles Gabarró

Deriva

Carles Gabarró (Barcelona, 1965) avoids frivolity. We could define his work as an existentialist painting that reflects obsessively on the environment of man and of his very existence, and as a result, his work as a whole is highly tragic. Gabarró creates spaces for reflection, spaces that are apparently stable and resounding but in a fragile balance that keeps them moving. It paints their fears, which are also ours and those of any man. Maybe that's why his painting is not easy or friendly for us. It puts us in front of the darkest regions of our existence, but it is loaded with very personal poetry. A harsh and rough poetry, but after all, poetry. Because, as Rilke stated, the beautiful is nothing but the principle of what is terrible.
