Francesc Català Roca

"15 imatges"

This game of words, the painter Marc Aleu was invented in 1954, at a dinner in Ca la Mariona, a restaurant in the old quarter, in Valldonzella Street in Barcelona. It was a group of friends, and among them Francesc Català Roca, who was already a great photographer; there were journalists, literate, painters, whores, etc. We were already at the end of the postwar period, but the repression was still very harsh. They met and drank very often; they swarmed with enthusiasm, enthusiasm and hopes.

For more or less ten years, a kind of informal group was formed and nothing was dogmatic; there were very different people: for example, Thomas Bouchard, American filmmaker who shot a long film about Miró; in Llorenç Artigas and his wife Violette, and their children, Joanet and Mariette; in Joan Miró and his wife Pilar ;; the painters Balanyà, Marc Aleu, Domènech, Guinovart, the poet and editor Joaquim Horta, Blas de Otero, Oriol Maspons, photographer, among others.

At this point, talking about the category of en Català Roca may not be necessary, but it is, for some agramuntins and forasters, to know some images of this great photographer.

The Espai Guinovart Foundation is very pleased to be able to do this small sample of 15 images "and we wish and hope that many of them will be recorded for the visitors
