Jo Milne

Cipher

Jo Milne draws a world of dots, presents a series of paintings that reflect on the perception and how he explains what is seen. Points that are points of departure, points in parentheses, or endpoints that take us to the interior of a world drawn very close to reality, although using a reduced language. Through this reduced point language, the world becomes a map without coordinates, with a series of images that reflect a fragmented reality. The artist invites the viewer to discover himself within this world of "Cipher" (access key) where the coordinates play and move with their eyes without losing the thread of union.

Painting arises from nothingness, from the tactility and the sensation of what we imagine. The final image is the anecdote of a questioning process of what we do not see. The key lies in discovering how to use it in a complementary way to other languages to develop a concept of perception of reality.

Jo Milne in 1989 is a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Edinburgh, and a Master's Degree from the Camberwell School of Art in London in 1993. He contacted Barcelona in 1987, in an exchange with the Massana School. She has been a professor and director of the Winchester School of Art in Barcelona. He currently teaches at Eina (Barcelona) and at Trinity College (USA).
