Carlos Pazos

5550144, night

Carlos Pazos, National Prize of Plastic Arts 2008, presents at the Petit Espai of the Espai Guinovart d'Agramunt Foundation, exhibition 5550144, night, an environmental installation that recreates its individual mythologies, as it was baptized current director of the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and former director of the MACBA, Manuel Borja Villell.

The installation, which incorporates some of the objects collected over the years by Pazos himself, is an old project by the artist dating from the year 1999 and which until now has not been specified and includes references to a certain glamor deliberately anachronistic cinematographic.

Pazos, who was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 2004, is considered one of the essential artists of contemporary Catalan art in recent decades. His most personal referential universe has led him to use work procedures as diverse as music or cinematography with the common nexus of developing a fictional environment in the center of which the artist himself stands.

The installation incorporates a musical work by the artist Vicenç Vacca, a regular collaborator of Pazos, collected in a 12 cm vinyl that has been recorded and edited especially for this exhibition and has been shot by 60 copies.
