"Terra endins. Mar enllĂ "

Josep Guinovart.

Institut d'Estudis Ilerdencs

This exhibition aims to highlight two of the fundamental axes that make up the Guinovart Universe: the Lands of the West and the Mediterranean Sea.

Lands of the West that Guinovart discovers when he walks to Agramunt, cradle of his maternal family, fleeing from the war. He is a child, and the experiences of the field hit his soul and leave a mark so deep in his memory that stubs, wheat grains, egg shells ... will become part of their pictorial alphabet forever . "My tattoo is the land," said Guinovart, a tattoo that glowed with pride and that became one of the most characteristic signs of identity in his artistic iconography.

As opposed to the Earth, the Mediterranean Sea, a bridge between cultures that Guinovart contemplated from his watchtower in Castelldefels. Blaus "full of silver and time," and the constant desire to reach Ithaca, leaving behind the song of the sirens and thus making the journey longer, to finally reach the longed for Blue, as the artist confessed, "I have not yet found and hopefully I will never find myself" so as not to quench the source of the passion of those who seek the impossible.
"Terra in, Mar enllà" wants to be a journey through these two worlds guinovartians, who, together, come to the essence of this great painter.
