A FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA
In the centenary of his birth

Federico García Lorca was the first poetry I received, the first magic written in his Poema del Cante Jondo. It may seem paradoxical that I know the poetry of Castilian speech earlier than that of other poets, but the circumstances of the Civil War, with the rupture and persecution of our language, and the specific fact of the family, labor, and peasant origin - not connected with the cultural bourgeoisie - determined the orphanage in a large part of our society. Thus, in a way we can explain those years of hardness and repression.

From the first moment, Lorca impressed me a lot, even with very direct influences. I think poetry is always close to painting and Lorca creates constant images that multiply electrically. Sensual, vitalistic, tragic. Full of words and archaeological voices.

I am really happy to do this exhibition in this Espai d'Agramunt, lands of order and wheat, close to the gilding of golden fields, paths and green areas with the poppy red poplar, announcing this year's centenary homage to one of the poets closest to men and to the earth.

In this exhibition I present the first engravings to the etching that I made in 1951 and that they are precisely about poems by García Lorca.

Although I know that the goblin is not a matter of will, I hope that in the Espai d'Agramunt the elf will take an active look on May 31. Without will but with great enthusiasm I will do my best to never leave us and feel prisoner.

Neither the topics nor the loot, nor folklorism, have ever made the Luscan cosmos.
