Guinovart poetic animal

Josep Guinovart.

The presence of animals in the work of Josep Guinovart reveals that nature is an inherent element of its creative process; nature understood as experience, as a print, as a source of emotional inspiration, and not as a model to imitate. The artist firmly believes in the contact with the earth, in the force that takes the reality; He considers that the code in which he expresses can not be understood without the trajectory lived, without the imprint of what he has seen.

In this sense, from magical realism to the most material stage, through experimentation with sculpture and collage, all the creative phases of Guino are marked by the presence of different animals. Together, these are common animals, and not as fabulous or fantastic beings, exotic or far away, that make up their own language, full of personal symbolism. Thus, the artist defuses the conventional and archetypal interpretation of fauna and converts each creature into a symbol that speaks its language.

First of all, «Past lived» presents the natural reality. It is the childhood of the creator. Here the owl stands as an icon of the agramuntí landscape, of the golden field, of the dry land. It evokes the nights that happened in "Pepito" with the twin brothers in the hut of the Siscar forest. It is the manifestation of the whole, the summary of a life, to the point of becoming a being that acquires its own identity. They complement the screw, which, based on the spiral scheme of nature, is material and self-sufficient, and frog, an animal of transition, ambiguous and also energetic.

Then, "Contemplative Present" expresses the most lyrical reality. The set portrays the contemplative necessity, but also the interior landscape of the creator, the feeling of man. Fish attach to imagination, thought, and spirituality. The blue of these works weaves a structure of sensations that reflect solitude, isolation, but also freedom and immensity. The inclusion of texts, the use of handwriting and the technical experimentation of the chosen pieces are of an exquisite finesse.

Finally, "Future hopeful" is the social reality, human consciousness, the artist's representation engaged with time. In this case, the ant means the collective boiling, the work, the smallness of the living, the strength of the whole. The butterfly, on the other hand, is the manifestation
of freedom, the insect that seeks the light, the landscape nomad, as the artist writes. Both praise the art, the poetry, the universal culture.

The guinovartian animal is nothing more than the sum of vital knowledge, the materialization of tangible spaces, faith in progress, in humanity. The protagonists of this story are, therefore, the activators of a scene called nature, which empowers the creation of a dynamic artist, who is the call of life in the most primitive stage.
